Ruth Armitage

Working with cold wax's ability to hold objects, Ruth Armitage incorporates found objects in her paintings; these textures and patterns emerge from and recede into the swathes of color. Her abstracts are detailed environments, packed with marks and forms, shifts in scale and movement; intense primary colors become permeable hazes, layers are worn away and incised to reveal artifacts and further layers.

Oil and cold wax painting. 12 x 12 inches. $295.

The paintings are created plein air style with a variety of materials, including acrylic, ink, charcoal, pencil, oil pastel, and chalk, in order to react to the spirit of the location in the moment.

Maude May

More than a functional place of shelter, homes are the structures containing many of our relationships. Maude May uses the iconic shape of a house to provide space for the weight of individual meanings. Her collages use photographs, adorned and obscured by paint strokes and text to create an atmosphere of memory.

Encaustic collage on board. 12 x 12 inches. $200.

Samyak Yamauchi

Samyak Yamauchi shapes intuitive gestures into charming narratives where sister characters adventure through offbeat environments that highlight the intimacy and resilience of siblings. While the characters are active, the situations remain hazy, reflecting the nature of memory and inviting the viewer's individual associations to form the story.

Mixed media painting on canvas. 12 x 12 inches. $200.

Amy Fields

Amy Fields's porcelain pendant lamps, cool when not illuminated, become warm with use, the variance in thickness subtly shifting the color, which also shines through piercings and cutouts. The landscape of the lamps is lively, with abstract clusters of spines crowding together, causing the lamps to resemble puffer fish or stalactite-covered cave walls, then receding to smooth porcelain punctuated by cutouts that balance design with function.

Porcelain. 6 inches x 6 inches x 6 inches. $300.

Elise Wagner

Using the hybrid encaustic collagraph technique she pioneered, Elise Wagner combines the bold carvings of her encaustic paintings with the subtle tones and precise lines of printmaking. In this project, inspired by salt pans in India, Wagner balances textures and perspectives: incised lines and worn traces of coded language seemingly near to hand, while rough, topographical masses appear distantly below, excavations seen from high altitude.

Print on paper. 6 x 6 inches (11 x 15 inches overall paper size). $300.
