I usually start an artwork by looking through vintage images that I have printed out over the years. I’m drawn to figures and faces. I like to layer the images until I feel like it is right or done. I don’t do a lot of planning when I paint. It is important to my process to create intuitively. Sometimes paintings happen quickly, just a few layers. Others have lots of layers and I work on them over months, even years.

I’ll make sure that these pieces are ready by August 29th :)

This a picture of some of the vintages images that I have used in the past. I have a giant pile that I look through when I start a layer. I look until a photo calls out to me.
